Hello, I’ll get straight to the point.

I was watching youtube when my laptop died. I went to charge it and powered it on like usual. I opened firefox expecting “restore session” to pop up like it usually does but it was not there and I was met with the default gray firefox window. My theme is gone, bookmarks are also gone and it’s as if i had downloaded firefox all over again. I don’t know why this happened it’s literally never happened before even though my laptop has died so many times in the last year or so that i’ve had firefox. Im begging anyone to help me because i have so many bookmarks related to my work that are very important and i don’t think i can manually retrieve them all. Im concerned about my history too but I mostly need the bookmarks most. Please help me. I can’t find the backup file it’s asking me to select; the ones i’ve found were empty. Is there any way to retrieve at least a fraction of what i’ve lost? I did not know I had to manually backup my data, i thought it was connected to the firefox account itself. i’m sorry if this sounds frantic, it’s because i am. please please help me :(

So I recently reinstalled windows and noticed that if I select the option that asks me each time where a file should be saved before downloading it, the browser appears to begin downloading the file (I can see the .part file in the default folder) but the window that actually allows me to browse for a location in windows explorer never shows up and thus, I am not able to actually download the file. However, if I select the "pick a folder and everything will download to that folder" option, it downloads just fine. I'm wondering if there was a way to reinstall firefox but keep all if not most of my settings and tabs etc.

I can complete the sign in and enter my password, and then I get a spinning wheel and can no longer click on the tabs or minimize the window. I have to force close it and it shows as not signed it. I've also tried signing in using my phone and the QR code, same thing. This happens with or without 2FA, I turned it off and the issue persists. Everything else about the browser works completely but I can't sync across devices without the Mozilla login working.

The system asks me to sign in using my passkey or to try another way. The screen is frozen - can't enter passkey, can't choose another way. The only way out is to close firefox. I have no problem signing in with a different browser (Safari).

A couple of updates ago, I received the message that some of my bookmarks will not be available. So I ran through the trouble shooting FAQs and I ran into a problem. When I go into Manage Bookmarks and it brings up my now empty library, when I select Import/Backup then Restore, it will not show me any files to restore from. Additionally, I used Fx File Utilities and it show the corrupt entry that I cannot remove, but allows me to export the json file to an html file so I can import it, but once again, when I select Import from HTML, it shows me no available files to restore from. Lastly, I imported the html file in to Chrome and then tried the option to import from another browser, but again, it will not allow me to select anything.

I have confirmed the integrity of the db as instructed, etc. So I have run out of options. How can I get my 15+ years of bookmarks back?

O, woe, I feel like Jacob Marley wailing in torment, ha! My correctly-set selection of "Always ask you where to save files" still does not function in 146.0 on Windows 10 after I have gone through every permutation of settings, updates, restarts, etc., I can think of. Why does it always every time only automatically download to the download "Save files to" location (which one MUST set with no option to not set a download location). I have even selected "Ask whether to open or save files" on the "What should Firefox do with other files?" section. I want to be asked each time where to download just like Firefox used to allow and still falsely promises. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a vast Left Wing conspiracy with which Firefox is colluding to oppress people who want choice over their lives like me? :-)

I've started using the new PWA feature in Firefox. Some of the websites I've installed show a generic globe from 4 black lines icon. I am assuming because the favicon is not available or something.

I've changed the shortcut icon by going into the Windows properties dialog. It does change the icon on the taskbar while the PWA is closed, but as soon as I open it, it reverts the globe icon.

Is there a way I can manually change the icon the PWA is using?

I can go to any link I've been to previously and went to Live.com to go to Bing to search. I was looking for a recipe for cherry sauce for venison. I'm on a 2017 Imac that's up to date on IOS and Firefox is also up to date. This was not happening this morning.

I often use the key combination Ctrl+Alt+X in Google Docs when on different devices but it doesn't function properly when instead it brings up the AI sidebar gadget. Removing the sidebar button doesn't really help and it's annoying. So how exactly do I turn off the key combination for the sidebar?
